Strut mount

Strut mounts are a frequent wear component on vehicles with MacPherson suspension systems. These mounts secure the top of the strut to the chassis and serve as a pivot point for steering. Over time, especially with higher mileage, the strut bearing can degrade, leading to a rougher feel and reduced steering performance. Additionally, the rubber in the mount may crack, causing looseness and other issues. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, we recommend replacing the strut mounts whenever installing new strut assemblies.

Strut mount Failure Symptoms

• Clunking or knocking noises: A worn strut mount may cause clunking or knocking sounds, especially when driving over bumps or rough roads
• Excessive vibration: If the rubber in the mount is cracked or deteriorating, it may lead to increased vibrations felt through the steering wheel or chassis
• Poor steering response: A faulty strut mount can affect the vehicle’s steering alignment, leading to difficulty in turning or reduced steering responsiveness
• Uneven tire wear: When the strut mount fails, it can alter the suspension geometry, causing uneven or premature tire wear
• Increased body roll or sway: A worn mount can compromise suspension stability, leading to more pronounced body roll during cornering
