The 2JZ-GTE engine is a part of Toyota’s JZ engine family. They’re inline-6 engines and were introduced as a replacement for the M-series engines. They are offered in 2.5 and 3.0 liter variants, and are 24-valve DOHC engines.

The 2JZ is a 3.0L engine which was initially introduced in the 1991 Toyota Aristo. For the 1998 model year, we saw the addition of VVT-I variable valve timing. The 2JZGTE was the engine that originally powered the Aristo in 1991, only to later on become the flagship performance engine found in the Toyota Supra RZ.

This is one of the reasons why many JDM enthusiasts still look for a 2JZGTE engine for sale. With dual turbochargers, the output was 276 horsepower at 5600 RPM. The 2JZGTE export version actually had a higher power output, 321 horsepower, which it achieved with newer stainless steel turbochargers, as well as larger injectors and revised camshafts.
