Yubari King Melon (Japanese Melon)

£34.00

The Yubari King Melon is one of the most expensive fruit in the world, grown and sold in Japan. Coming exclusively from Yubari on Hokkaido, Yubari King melons are renowned for their sweetness. A hybrid of two other cantaloupe cultivars: Earl’s Favourite and Burpee’s “Spicy” Cantaloupe. The Yubari King Melons demand constant care from the farmers and are now grown in greenhouses. The soil the melons grow in is volcanic ash, easy to control the humidity and temperature. Thus, letting the top remain dry, in turn, encourages the size of melons.
